1. Marianne Skarpnord was born 11th February 1986 in Sarpsborg, Norway

2. She took up the game when she was around four-years-old.

3. In 2003, she won the Girls Amateur Championship, defeating Beatriz Recari of Spain in the final.

4. Skarpnord holed the winning putt in the 2003 Junior Solheim Cup.

5. Whilst growing up, Skarpnord played football and handball.

6. After turning professional in 2005, she secured her first win two years later on the Telia Tour.

7. Her best season to date came in 2009, when she won the Ladies Swiss Open and the Ladies Italian Open. The following year, she would join the LPGA.

8. Skarpnord has two superstitions. She only plays with Titleist balls that have a number one or two on them and she always uses white tees.

9. The Norwegian has featured in 11 of the last 12 Women’s Open Championships. Missing the event in 2011.
