Best Golf Shoes 2019

When tackling wet rough and soft ground conditions, the state of your golf shoes often comes to the fore. It’s at this moment you probably ask yourself why you didn’t go for something a little sturdier, or something with a better guarantee.

Well, with our help you don’t have to make the same mistake twice.

What will I need to consider?

Flexibility versus stability
This will depend on your action and on what you like to feel underfoot. Typically powerful swings can benefit from extra stability, while flexible shoes that are more dynamic can aid slower swingers.

Styling
No longer are cleated shoes limited to classic styles, with plenty of colourful and distinctive options now flooding the market.

Price
There’s no escaping that this will be the deal breaker for many, but make sure you consider things like the waterproof warranty that can add value.

Nowadays, there are a great range of options, from colourful sporty models to classic subtler designs. Nearly all have some sort of value-adding waterproof guarantee, while grip and traction have been innovatively harvested through a range of clever sole designs. Here are the best golf shoes 2019 has to offer…

FootJoy Fury

FootJoy Fury Review

GM Says: The new for 2019 athletic FootJoy Fury has been designed to provide comfort around key contact points without sacrificing grip and stability. The comfort comes from multiple sources, the first being a one-piece Inner Fit Sleeve along with an FTF+ midsole and a dual-layer FitBed, which features a memory foam layer that returns energy and another that moulds to the shape of your foot over time for a more customised fit.

Stability comes from the TPU outsole, ably assisted by a new FlexGrid MLC Cage system that attaches the laces to the midsole for a more locked-in fit.

Under Armour Spieth 3

Under Armour Spieth 3 Review

GM Says: A design driven by statistics and data, Under Armour claim the new Spieth 3 is their most advanced shoe to date. One of the main distinguishable features of the new technology in the shoe is the focus on traction. A new rotational resistance (RST 2.0) cleat is softer and more flexible, helping with traction both horizontally and vertically, to keep your feet on the ground for longer during the swing for a more stable base.

The shoe is also designed to give excellent waterproofing thanks to its Gore-Tex waterproof membrane, which also offers exceptional breathability.

Nike Golf Air Zoom Victory Tour

GM Says: As worn by Rory McIlroy, the new Air Zoom Victory Tour shoes will be released on March 1st and the Northern Irishman has had a direct input into the design – including the shape, feel, look and cushioning.

Nike have brought some of their basketball shoe technology into these shoes with the ‘React Foam’ creating a comfortable and stable shoe. They will be available in black and white options.

Puma Ignite NXT

GM Says: Built from the ground up, the shoes come with Puma’s Pro-Form TPU outsole along with an organically-altered traction pattern, featuring over 100 strategically placed directional hexagon lugs in for maximum stability and traction. Additionally their new Pwrcage technology combines with Pwrframe reinforcement in the mesh upper to provide a lightweight, strong and stable shoe. They are easy to clean too thanks to Soleshield which is a thin TPU film that is vacuum-formed around the full-length Ignite foam midsole to make cleaning off dirt easier.

G/FORE MG4.1

G/FORE Release New Athletic Golf Footwear

GM says: Going fully on sale in June, G/FORE recently announced their new athletic shoe line, the MG4.1. Designed to give lightweight comfort both on and off the course these shoes are sure to help you stand out from the crowd thanks to their five different colour ways. The shoe features a one-piece engineered knit upper that hugs the foot and provides lightweight and breathable comfort from heel to toe. The four-way stretch collar ensures easy slip-in comfort as well.

Adidas Tour360 XT

GM says: The Tour360 XT gets its name from the X-shaped traction system on the outsole, which provides multi-directional grip on uneven lies and stability without sacrificing comfort. The new models also have a lighter, more flexible TPU outsole and Boost cushioning from heel to toe.

Mizuno Nexlite Boa 005

GM Says: Once again featuring the BOA closure system, the new 005 shoes from Mizuno have an incredibly light design that come in at 285 grams for each shoe. Thanks to technology brought in from their running shoes – such as WAVE technology – the shoes offer support and cushioning on the move. Additionally the shoes come with six quick fastening and quick-release iG4f spikes.

FootJoy Tour S Review Shoe Review

FootJoy Tour S Video Review

GM Says: FootJoy’s most stable shoe ever created thanks to even wider cleat positioning than on DNA Helix, housed by Launch Pods to deliver maximium stability with good grip. A Power Strap helps secure the foot in place while comfort comes from a dual-density fit bed, EVA tongue and premium leather from Pittards of England.

Ecco Biom G3

GM Says: Unveiled at the tail-end of 2018, the Danish company’s Biom G3 model utilises a range of technologies to deliver performance that will last round after round, while hard-wearing ECCO YAK leather uppers and a waterproof Gore-Tex construction keep feet dry and comfortable in even the wettest weather.

During construction the upper and outsole unit are bonded together, creating a one-piece shoe without the use of glue or stitching. The benefits of this process include flexibility, durability and a lightweight construction.

Duca Del Cosma Heritage

GM Says: Brand new for 2019, Duca Del Cosma released their first ever spiked shoe called the Heritage. Including a waterproof microfibre system, and made from full-grain leather, the shoes are the stars of their new line. They also provide excellent grip thanks to their Tour Lock technology and Cross System Protection on the sole.

Adidas Tour360 Boost 2.0

Adidas Tour360 Boost 2.0 Review

GM Says: As worn by Dustin Johnson, an upgraded outsole top plate allows the shoe to accommodate the natural foot movement that occurs during the golf swing. A softer outsole aids flexibility and comfort, assisted by boost cushioning, while a new Torsion Tunnel provides independent flexibility and control between the heel and forefoot with enhanced arch support.

Under Armour Spieth 2

Under Armour Spieth 2 Review

GM Says: Under Armour’s signature shoe for 2018 has had some key updates, most notably the addition of the Gore-Tex membrane for extra waterproof protection and breathability. This upper now has TPU fibers woven into the heel section for added support and to make it lighter than Spieth 1 by 57 grams. Finally, the outsole has been made more flexible to improve comfort as a walking shoe. Rotational resistance cleats improve your connection with the ground for maximum power.
