What to consider when buying the best golf socks
What are some of the factors you should consider when buying golf socks? Let’s take a look.
Normal/Ankle – Do you want a sock that goes further up the leg, or just one that sits snugly around the ankle? Perhaps you want both as one design is best suited for pants, and one is best suited for shorts whilst on holiday. Whatever sock design you are after, we have included models with each above.
Comfort – With anything that goes on your feet, comfort is king. Anything that makes you uncomfortable whilst walking or standing over the golf ball is useless, especially if they cause blisters or painful rubbing. Therefore be aware of how some socks are designed and check if they have specific padded zones around places like the heel and sole of your foot.
Take it from us, any sock that offers extra softness and padding can be vitally important especially if you are playing 36 holes in a day.
Ventilation – Yes the best golf socks are comfortable, but they must also ventilate and deal with sweat too. Models like the Nike Everyday Lightweight Socks and Under Armour designs have specific technologies to help breathability and move sweat away from the foot.
Durability – Another crucial factor in golf socks is durability. If you buy a pair and holes start to appear after a couple of rounds then they are a waste of money. Thankfully, from our experience the models above should not degrade very quickly as they have been designed not to, but it is a factor you should be aware of.
Colors – If you want your golf socks to be simply black or white, then there are plenty of models above for you. However if you want to think outside the box a little and stand out, then models like the Swiftwick Flite XT Zero or Sounder No Rule Socks will be models to consider.
Budget – Finally how much do you want to spend on golf socks? Importantly there are cheaper models out there for those budget conscious people, but there are also more premium designs too for those who want to spend a little more.
