The best push carts include models that are compact, practical and colourful, so you should have no trouble finding something to consider
Best Push Carts
Golf carts have become more and more popular in golf over the last decade or so because companies have improved on technologies to make them lighter, easier to use, more compact and feature-packed, and just better.
But which models are the best, what factors do you need to consider, and why use a push cart in the first place? Well this is where this guide comes in because all of those questions are answered.
Why you might want a push cart
All the best push carts for golf share one thing in common; no longer are they heavy and cumbersome designs that are difficult to push and manoeuvre around the golf course.
These days, they are light, and easy to use making the experience less physically demanding compared to carrying your golf bag on your shoulders and back.
Additionally push carts are easy to assemble and have complex mechanisms that allow them to fold down compactly to make life easier for you.
Many electric models have all of this too so why would you choose a push cart over the best electric trolleys? For starters, push carts are less expensive.
They’re also simpler to set up when you get to the course and require less faffing, as you don’t need to remember to charge a battery. They also have great storage options on the handle that can house your balls, tees, scorecard and other items.
Golf push carts in particular are great if you want something you can leave in your car or garage between rounds with nothing to worry about. They also tend to be lighter and also fold away smaller than electric trolleys.
If these qualities sound like something you’re interested in, read on to find out more about some of the best models on the market this year.

Stewart Golf R1-S Push Cart
Clever engineering
+ Folding mechanism is clever while also making it easier to set up and put down quickly
+ Very easy to push around the course
+ The colour choice adds a pinch of personality
– Recommend using a cart bag as the stand bag we used made accessing clubs a bit clumsy
One of our favourite designs in this best golf push carts list, the R1-S from Stewart Golf boasts an impressive and patented rack & pinion driven folding mechanism, which provides a cleaner look because the whole folding mechanism is inside the frame. This also means there’s nothing that can get jammed or stuck in it and maintenance is kept to a minimum.
It accommodates cart bags very well and there are a lot of premium touches throughout, like the non-absorbent silicone grips, quick-release wheels and feature-packed handle console, which provides storage for lots of different items like balls, tees and your scorecard.

A model that made our best golf carts list, one simple step is all you need to fold this Bag Boy Nitron cart up or down which is outstanding. The mechanism is lightning fast and yet do not think this limits its strength because the frame is robust whilst not being overly heavy so it is easy to use on the links. This compact size when folded down is a huge bonus when it comes to storage too.
Other features include a scorecard console with integrated beverage holder, mobile device holder and golf ball storage, handle mounted parking brake and bungee straps to secure golf bag with ease.
Sun Mountain Pathfinder 3 Push Cart
Spacious console storage
+ Ample storage for bits and bobs
+ Straightforward structure
– Stability not as strong as other models
Create your own path on the course with this Sun Mountain Pathfinder. Two easy steps are needed to fold it up and down and we particularly liked the excellent level of storage here whether it be the accessory console, mesh basket, or the velour-lined valuables pouch. No doubt it can house everything you could possibly need on the course safely, making it one of the best golf push carts the market has to offer.
The adjustable, universal upper bag bracket works equally well for both stand and cart bags, secured via adjustable ‘bungee’ cords on both the upper and lower brackets. It is available in seven colours too, so you should be able to choose your favourite. All in all, it’s one of the best push carts you’ll find for the price.
Clicgear 4.0 Push Cart
Super stable
+ Feature packed
+ Improvements on previous design
– Can be fiddly to assemble
Clicgear has improved on the very popular 3.5+ model with this 4.0 design. Just some of the changes include a new lid lock, adjustable upper saddle, silicone straps, adjustable front wheel, umbrella tube strap, improved scorecard and pencil holder which is a long feature list indeed.
There is now a new stylish scorecard holder. It’s silicone and does exactly what the old string version used to do, but it looks cooler and comes in many colours which can be customized with a M4 Trim Kit (sold separately).
The new Clicgear Silicone straps are adjustable right out of the box and are also more gentle on your bag.
The Lower Saddle on the Clicgear M4 is modified to move the lower bag support up and away from the front wheel. Working with the Adjustable Upper Saddle, this allows better clearance between the bottom of some stand bags when positioned on the cart. This finally eliminates an annoying issue for some customers.
Front wheel adjustment get’s a lot easier with the Clicgear M4 with an all new Wheel Adjustment System up front. You can now easily adjust the front wheel with the turn of one screw for perfect alignment every time.
The choice of different colour is a chance to add some individuality to your cart, whilst it is also very compact when folded down making it good for storage as well.

How we test the best push carts
We test push carts with the same ethos as all other golf gear – rigorously and comprehensively. If we say we have reviewed a golf product then we have done so out on the golf course, in different conditions. This is particularly important for push carts because you want your model to perform as well in the winter as it does in the summer.
The entire Golf Monthly team plays golf regularly so can put golf gear to the test with ease and it should be acknowledged that no manufacturer can buy a good review. Our team tells it how we see it.
What to consider when buying a push cart
Push or electric cart? – Push carts are more appropriate for golfers that play mostly on flatter courses.
They’re also less expensive than the best electric carts, so are a more cost-effective way of getting your clubs around the course. Push carts also tend to offer better storage solutions on the handle console for items like balls and tees.
Weight – Push carts need to be lightweight because it is you that is providing the pushing power, which can be particularly tiresome when playing holes that go uphill, so be sure to pick one that is lightweight without sacrificing stability or durability.
Luckily, push carts are much lighter than electric carts. Make sure the wheel bearings are nice and smooth, which will help reduce the amount of manual effort required.
Folding – Push carts often fold down more compactly than electric carts because the simpler design (no electrics) provides more freedom with the design of the frame.
This means they often fold down flatter, which can be more convenient for golfers that need to also fit their golf bag in the trunk. So if you’re very short on space, a push cart could provide the answer.
Manoeuvrability – With push carts, because you are doing some of the work in terms of propulsion and direction, good models have to be easy to manoeuvre. Poorly designed models make life more difficult which is precisely the opposite of what a cart is supposed to do. Now admittedly there are some good four-wheel options in this regard, the Big Max Blade Quattro for example, but the more common design we have found to move easily are three-wheeled designs.
Storage – How much storage do you want on your push cart? If it is a lot then pick a design with a large central console, whereas if all your golf gear is going to be kept in your golf bag itself, then go for a trolley that doesn’t specifically need storage in its design.
Budget – Our final factor for you to think about is budget. As you can see above there are lots of models from different companies, that all come in at different price points so be aware of how much you can, or want, to spend.
