Eleven Sports broadcast its first day of golf on Thursday at the USPGA Championship

Social Media Rages Over Eleven Sports USPGA Championship Coverage
Eleven Sports have the rights to show this year’s USPGA Championship and it is safe to say it didn’t get off to the best of starts.
The company, who are streaming the year’s final major on their website, app and Facebook, began their free Facebook stream of round one and it wouldn’t work.

Instead, fans were shown adverts for the company’s other coverage like the Spanish football.
Eleven then took to Twitter to apologise:
Our sincerest apologies for the issues we are encountering with the feed from the US. We are working to resolve them as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

They said, “Our sincerest apologies for the issues we are encountering with the feed from the US. We are working to resolve them as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”
They then went on to explain the issues they encountered were also experienced by other broadcasters around the world.
The issues we experienced at the start of the broadcast were down to the feed that was coming in from the US. Many broadcasters around the world were also affected.
We hope you’re now enjoying the live action

The feed managed to eventually get up at around 2.20pm, 50 minutes later than scheduled.
Fans then complained of constant buffering once the stream eventually got up-and-running.
Once the featured groups coverage ended and the full coverage began, many took to social media to express their disappointment at the coverage which was fed in from the US.
Here is how social media reacted to the Eleven Sports USPGA Championship coverage from round one:
Struggling with the stream for @PGAChampionship

Annoying, too many self promoting ads as you might expect, just piggy backing on second string American broadcaster – but at least its somewhere to watch it, shame on sky and beeb for not covering – I’ll be canceling the subscription as soon as it’s done

we pay fortunes for @SkySportsGolf and are then pushed to spend more on yet another platform. the Uk has no coverage other than a streaming service which is below average. fortunes lost in Golf clubs and pubs all over the UK

Worse than BBC. And that’s saying something

@PGA their 100th event, grow the game, 2k viewers. Total slap in the face for golfers everywhere. I’m embarrassed for them. Reminder this is 2018.

For anyone interested in the golf, don't watch the @ElevenSports_UK Facebook stream. It's dreadful. Nothing but buffering. Much better stream on the PGA page here: https://t.co/rm5Ow7l4RE

Just started watching the @ElevenSports_UK coverage of the @PGAChampionship on Facebook and the buffering is horrific. Verging on unwatchable so far. I really hope this gets better!

@ElevenSports_UK why are you advertising featured groups from the pga championship but just showing adverts for the football you'll be showing in the future?
— Laurence McDonald (@LozzieMac) August 9, 2018
