Evnroll TourStroke Trainer
We got our first glimpse of Evnroll putters back in 2016 with the company’s eye-catching range of milled putters. These featured putting guru Guerin Rife’s Sweet Face technology, a unique mill pattern to deliver uniform performance across the entire hitting area.
At the 2019 PGA Merchandise Show, Rife was showcasing a number of his latest innovations. We were there to take a look, and what stood out immediately was the TourStroke Trainer, in no small part down to its unusual neck.
Visual technology
Evnroll says the most common stroke path most tour players set out to achieve is slightly shorter on the takeaway, square at impact and just beyond, and then slightly longer and back inside on the follow-through. The TourStroke’s elongated hosel, which angles 1¼” forward of the face, is designed to instantly create this stroke path.
TourStroke is clever in that it plays a kind of mental game. A golfer knows the head is not in line with the shaft so will instinctively keep the face square until it contacts the ball to avoid pulling the putt. Therefore, a better relationship is encouraged between the left arm and putter face. In addition, by keeping the shaft moving through the impact zone, the golfer will also automatically have a longer follow-through. It also promotes a high MOI, which, in terms of benefits, equates to greater levels of forgiveness.
Improve your understanding
This may all sound a little complicated, but it’s anything with the putter in your hands. Often, half the battle in improving any aspect of your game is to gain a better understanding of the science involved behind certain movements. Evnroll’s TourStroke Trainer does just that, and should help you to improve your stroke and hole more putts. It may take a while to get used to, but the same goes for most new equipment.
