Going into the final round how are the tips doing?
Kevin Chappell 4th Two shots back
Brandon Stone 40th Nine shots back
Francesco Molinari 5th Three shots back
Danny Willett 20th Six shots back
Thorbjorn Olesen 20th Six shots back
Haotong Li 20th Six shots back
Rickie Fowler 36th Eight shots back
Alex Noren 6th four shots back
Tyrrell Hatton 69th 13 shots back
Matthew Southgate 51st 10 shots back
In 1999 Paul Lawrie came from 10 shots back to win when the wind got up and conditions got very tough. The Open Championship Weather Forecast for Sunday this year is again for winds, with the early starters getting the best of the conditions.
Therefore I have to go for some big outsiders to make a charge from down the field… although we already have some excellent coverage across the field.
Open Championship Golf Betting Tips Advised Bets – Pre Final Round
Tommy Fleetwood – 4 points to win at 20/1 with Sportnation.bet – Don’t think Fleetwood had much luck on Saturday – decent odds as only four back. Go for the win not each way at this point.
Matt Kuchar – 2 points each way at 40/1 with Sportnation.bet – Ran into a Spieth steam train last year when it looked like glory beckoned at Birkdale. Has not played at his best this year but with a chip in here and a well holed putt there he is now just four shots off the lead.
Phil Mickelson – 1 point each way at 500/1 with Sportnation.bet – If there is anyone who can shoot the lights out early then Mickelson is the man, he nearly did it when Darren Clarke won in 2011 and he started well back of him – you need someone capable of shooting a 65 and then hope the conditions fall away.
Open Championship Golf Betting Tips Advised Bets – Post Cut
Kevin Chappell 2 points each way at 66/1 with Sportnation.bet – Has had a very tricky season so far, but is well thought off by many of his peers. Only three shots back, these odds are far too long.
Brandon Stone 1 point each way at 80/1 with Sportnation.bet – The South African won the Scottish Open last with a fabulous weekend shooting 66 and 60 – if he has a similar weekend this week he will be a Major champion. Is only four shots back at two under par.
Francesco Molinari 1 point each way at 80/1 with Sportnation.bet – The Italian has been the best player in the world, arguably, over the past couple of weeks. He is level par at the half way stage and just 6 shots back. Great odds at this time.
Open Championship Golf Betting Tips Advised Bets – Post Round 1
Danny Willett 2 points each way at 50/1 with Sportnation.bet – Struggled so much since his 2016 US Masters win, he suddenly looks like he has his mojo back. Bogeyed the final two holes to shoot two under par, and he has much better control of his shots – Top 20 the last two weeks.
Thorbjorn Olesen 2 points each way at 66/1 with Sportnation.bet – The Dane has had three top 6s in his last five events including a win. A decent record on links and just four shots back after a first round 70.
Haotong Li 1 point each way at 125/1 with Sportnation.bet – The man from China shot an incredible 63 in the final round at Birkdale last year and after a first round 72 he is just 6 shots back. A lot of golf to be played, so if you want an outsider these odds are decent.
Open Championship Golf Betting Tips Advised Bets – Pre Tournament
Rickie Fowler 5 points each way at 18/1 with Sportnation.bet – Four top 20s in his last four starts, loves Links golf, but can finally get a Major under his belt? I think Carnoustie should suit his game. Has only missed one cut from the 7 Opens he has played and has had two top 5s. This could be his year.
Alex Noren 3 points each way at 28/1 with Sportnation.bet – The Swede is a fabulous player and continues to rise up the World Rankings. Won the French Open just last week, was 3rd at the BMW PGA Championship and is a really good Links player, as shown when he won the Scottish Open in 2016.
Tyrrell Hatton 2 points each way at 50/1 with Sportnation.bet – A massive danger on Links courses, and has won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship (which Carnoustie is a part of) twice. I feel he cannot be overlooked at this price. The biggest issue he has is whether he can keep his temper in check.
Matthew Southgate 1 point each way at 125/1 with Sportnation.bet – The Englishman is a links specialist, and has finished top 12 at The Open for the past two years, that alone makes him a worthwhile punt at these odds. A 5th at the French Open recently also shows he is in good form.
