Tour Gear Round Up: Unique Putters And Old Clubs Still Being Used

Welcome to Tour Gear Round Up, Golf Monthly’s weekly look at the equipment being played out on Tour.

Honda Classic week

Adam Scott

Adam Scott has been playing some great stuff in recent times and has been holing his fair share of putts again after keeping the flagstick in, using the Kuchar arm-lock style and a claw grip.

However, he has changed putter models this week and has gone for something rather bizarre.

The model is a L.A.B. Golf DirectedForce oversize mallet and it is not a longer arm-lock style putter he was previously using.

Charl Schwartzel

The South African is another with a rather unique putter.

Schwartzel was using this back at the Waste Management Phoenix Open but we’ve only just seen official images from Getty.

It’s a PXG and he has the putter going up the arm in that Kuchar style.

DJ won in Mexico using the TaylorMade M5 driver, which is the same one that he began 2019 with.

However, he switched it out for the M6 at the Saudi International, which he won, but went back to it in Mexico…and won again!

The women’s World Number One currently still has TaylorMade’s Aeroburner fairway wood in the bag.

It was released in 2015.

Andrew Landry

The American still uses Ping’s G30 driver.

Lahiri is another player with an older driver.

The Indian is using a Callaway Big Bertha V Series driver at the Honda Classic this week.

WGC-Mexico Championship

Abraham Ancer

The Mexican has signed with Muira Golf, having used their irons for two years now.

The 2018 Australian Open champion said, “I switched to Miura irons well before any partnership; I just wanted to play the best forged irons available.

“I am honored to represent Miura and look forward to introducing Miura to the Mexican market.”

Hoyt McGarity, President of Miura Golf, said, “Abraham is the perfect partner to grow Miura’s presence on and off the course.

“As one of the most successful Mexican golfers ever, his personal investment in Miura is the strongest endorsement as we increase our operations in Mexico and other parts of the world.”

Bubba Watson

The American showed off his special Pink ‘Bubba’ Ping G410 Plus driver ahead of the WGC-Mexico.

Bubba also showed off his headcover, featuring a cartoon version of himself!
