Clubs to Hire launches Race to Monte Rei

Clubs to Hire, the golf equipment rental company that has outlets across Europe, Africa and Asia, has launched a unique competition that is open to golf’s dedicated amateur enthusiasts.

Open to all golfers in possession of an official world handicap, Race to Monte Rei aims to reward players who manage to reduce their handicap by at least 10% from the time they enter the competition during the course of the year.

Of the players that achieve this impressive feat, just 12 names will be drawn at random to win a trip to Portugal on November 26 to play at the magnificent Monte Rei Golf & Country Club near Faro, where the winners will be treated to round on the Algarve venue’s superb Jack Nicklaus designed championship course and an overnight stay at the club’s luxury on-site residences.

The grand finalists will also be treated to a goodie bag, a pre-match breakfast, and will be invited to attend a post-golf gala dinner and prize giving ceremony. Flights to Faro are not included in the prize.

The competition is free to enter online and is open to all golfers who hold an official handicap. All entries must be submitted by September 30 and will be checked by the organisers with the golfer’s home club. Regular updates on qualifiers will appear during the year.

Clubs to Hire founder Tony Judge said: “Every year, golfers of all levels set themselves handicap targets for the golfing season. We are delighted that we can reward 12 dedicated golfers who achieve a 10% reduction in their handicap with this fantastic trip to an amazing part of the world.

“And while 10% may sound relatively straightforward for the keen golfer, it’s a lot harder than it seems, with only 210 golfers out of 3,000 entries managing it last time. We are looking forward to seeing how many can do it this year and hopefully seeing them in the beautiful Eastern Algarve in November.”
