Hertfordshire’s Alice Hewson followed in the footsteps of Charley Hull and Georgina Hall by winning the Hampshire Rose at North Hants Golf Club.
The 17 year old from Berkhamsted finished on one-over par for 36 holes after round of 71 and 76, and finished one shot clear of Inci Mehmet (Royal Mid-Surrey) and Sophie Keech (Parkstone).
Hewson was cruising on four-under after 28 holes, but then ran up a string of bogeys after some wayward driving, but just managed to hold on over the closing holes to take the prestigious title.
A member of the England Golf women’s squad, Hewson is going to college in America in September after winning a place at Clemson University in South Carolina.
