Kisner claims Wyndham win after six-man play-off

American Kevin Kisner won the PGA Tour’s first six-way play-off to claim the Wyndham Championship.

The 37-year-old Ryder Cup hopeful finished on 15 under at Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina, tied alongside compatriot Kevin Na, South Korea’s Kim Si-woo, Australia’s Adam Scott, Canada’s Roger Sloan and South Africa’s Branden Grace.

Kisner shot a closing four-under 66 before clinching the win with a birdie on the second play-off hole. That gave him his fourth PGA win and his 10th professional title overall. Overnight leader Russell Henley finished a shot further back in a three-way tie for seventh after a final-round 71.

Kisner, who moved up to 29th in the FedEx standings, said: “Every time you win out here, it’s hard, and you never know when it’s going to happen again, so you’ve got to cherish every time. This year’s been somewhat of a struggle for me, I kind of started the year with a playoff loss and struggled through the spring and started to find some form here late in the summer and rounding into form going into the FedExCup Playoffs. So to cap off the season with a win and head to the Playoffs and having a chance to win the FedExCup championship is just an awesome week.”

Justin Rose finished two shots off the pace in a five-way tie for 10th after a final round 67 that included an eagle, four birdies and three bogeys.
