Luke Donald will be playing at the US Open next week after coming through qualifying at the Bear’s Club in Florida.
Donald was world No.1 four years ago, but has fallen as low as 66th in the rankings, meaning he was not guaranteed a place in the field for the second major of the season, which takes place from June 18-21 at Chambers Bay, near Seattle, Washington.
The 37-year-old shot an even-par 72 in the morning round, but an afternoon 68, which included seven birdies, saw him finish top of the leaderboard alongside Andrew Pope and Jack Maguire.
