SELFIE STICKS BANNED FROM OPEN

The Royal and Ancient Golf Club has banned spectators from using selfie sticks during the 144th Open Championship at St Andrews.

The devices were banned by the All England Club ahead of this year’s Wimbledon after being considered a nuisance  by the LTA, and the R&A have followed suit ahead of next week’s Open at the Home of Golf.

“We want to ensure spectators at the Open enjoy a fantastic experience when they attend the championship and can do so safely,” said a spokesman for the R&A. “With that in mind, we are asking people not to bring selfie sticks, as they will not be allowed on to the course with them.”
