There are some pretty great golfers out there, and there are a lot of talented players that we’re certainly keeping our eyes on for the 2022 season.
If you’re as excited for the 2022 golf season as we are, you’ll be starting to place your bets about who’s going to go the distance. Thankfully we’re here to give you the lowdown about some of the players we’re looking out for before you check out those golf betting odds.
Here are seven golfers to look out for in 2022.
1. Rickie Fowler
Fowler (pictured above) is one of the most exciting young golfers around right now. He has been playing well since turning pro back in 2009, and he’s got an excellent chance at winning his first major this year with all the momentum he’s built up over the last few years.
Rickie Fowler comes from California and lives in Florida at present. When you watch him play, you probably wouldn’t be surprised to learn that he’s been golfing since the small age of 3. He’s been golfing for a long time, but it’s over the past 2 years or so that his performance has really stood out.
Even his high school golfing career was nothing to sniff at. He ended up getting Rookie of the Year back in 2010 and in the time since becoming pro, he’s managed to win a tremendous 5 PGA tours.
2. Jon Rahm
Rahm is another player who’s been playing really well lately. The 27 year old from is favored to win the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Rahm was born in Spain but became known for his golf prowess through a scholarship in golf during his time at Arizona State College. He won a tremendous 11 golf tournaments during his time at Arizona State, a score only beaten by Phil Mickelson.
He also won the Eisenhower Trophy and the Ben Hogan Award. That should tell you everything you need to know about how impressive this golfer really is. He turned pro in 2016, and has been impressing crowds ever since, winning seven European Tours and even the U.S. Open.
3. Sahith Theegala
This is another player that we most certainly want to see more of this year. Unfortunately, the player didn’t get to revel in the joy of golf during their college days thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, but they have still managed to wow people with their skills on the green.
Theegala managed to win a number of big awards in the space of just one ear, including the Ben Hogan Award and the Jack Nicklaus award. His career is still blossoming at the age of 23, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.
4. Lucas Herbert
25 year old Herbert from Australia has a few years of experience under his belt now, and we’re intrigued to see where he goes on the 2022 season. He took home his very first win in the PGA tour back in October 2021, but he’s been winning tournaments throughout the globe for a number of years at this point. After his performance in the last season, we’re quite confident that Lucas Herbert has even more tricks up his sleeve to show us, and we can’t wait to see it.
5. Mito Pereira
This player from Chile has had a great golf career so far. At the young age of 26, he’s already managed to win so many golf tournaments, awards and is fascinating to watch. His time on the Korn Ferry Tour was particularly impressive, winning back to back games. Every time he plays he gives a thrilling performance.
6. Sam Burns
The beginning of the newest PGA season has already been great for 25 year old Sam Burns, so we’re confident that this will continue. In 2021, Burns managed to secure two PGA wins and we’re pretty confident in saying that he’ll be adding more to his resume as the years continue on. 2022 is sure to be an exciting season for Burns.
7. Matthew Fitzpatrick
We’re all starting to become familiar with Matthew Fitzpatrick here in the US. In 2016, Fitzpatrick managed to tie for 7th and had already won the British tour before that point. He’s had a lot of success in Europe, though not quite as much here in the states. We believe that we have a lot more still to see from him though, so we’re looking forward to seeing what 2022 has in store.
