Cyclones also hit the island of Vanuatu and New Caledonia. Fortunately there were no human casualties but flash flooding caused enormous damage. The Oceania Weightlifting Institute was closed for a few days due to the institute being flooded. Water at one stage at the Institute was almost one metre high.
The Institute is built very near to a small river and with massive rain and cyclone winds; the river rose and flooded everywhere.
Last weekend another cyclone hit the island of Samoa; fortunately there was no human casualty.
