IWF Technical Administration and Management Course in Uganda


A Technical Administration and Management course was organised by Uganda Weightlifting Federation under the auspices of the International Weightlifting Federation’s Development Program between 11 – 16 September in Kampala, Uganda with 16 participants including coaches, referees, technical officials, administrators and managers from all across the country.

Prof. Milan Mihajlovic, President of the Serbian Weightlifting Federation and IWF Technical Committee Member was the expert at this course, who also worked hand in hand with Mr. Ssenkungu Salim Musoke, President of Uganda Weightlifting Federation, International Technical Official and Chairman of  WFA Coaching and Research Committee.

The opening ceremony took place on 11th September 2018 at the National Olympic Committee under the guidance of Mr. Ssenkungu Salim Musoke, UWF President and facilitator Prof. Milan Mihajovic.

Raising the rank of the event, the President of Uganda Olympic Committee, Mr. William Blick also attended the Opening Ceremony, while Mr. Ssemakula Katende David, Assistant Secretary General and Technical of the National Council of Sports was present too.

The topics included preparation of an international event, presentation of new IWF technical rules, the introduction of the new bodyweight categories (valid from 1st November 2018), management skills and best practices.

The officials also visited one of the weightlifting clubs and witnessed how the athletes were training.

The course ended with a competition, where all the newly obtained skills were put in practice, since each participant was involved. The Closing Ceremony included the awarding gala of the competition and Mr. Musoke expressed his special thanks to Dr. Tamas Ajan, IWF President for supporting and funding this event which geared to the development and prosperity of weightlifting.

The UWF is planning to organize another course with a training camp and competition next year.
