Communication and Marketing Manager
The Role
The Communications and Marketing Manager shall actively contribute to the operations of the IWF Secretariat that will develop, manage, and deliver key projects in line with strategic priorities by fulfilling the key responsibilities described below. The role also has a part to play working closely with Member Federations and external stakeholders to ensure the operational activities of International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) are successfully met aligned to the objectives as detailed by the Executive Board.

Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Communications and Marketing Manager include but are not limited to the following:
- Manage the brand to ensure consistent communication of the IWF’s mission and values across all channels.
- Develop and deliver creative and compelling stories across the IWF’s digital channels.
- Develop and oversee the delivery of a corporate communications strategy to build the organisation’s brand and reputation, including writing and editing effective copy.
- Develop a stakeholder engagement strategy to maximise relationships with clients, investors, partners and intermediaries.
- Develop, implement, monitor and adjust the IWF communications and PR strategy;
- Grow positive coverage of the sport through the activation of integrated communications and PR campaigns and activity;
- Briefing key senior personnel, such as Board members, senior staff when communicating key messages on behalf of IWF, including managing communications during complex crisis scenarios;
- Provide a new structure and framework in terms of branding and marketing from which the IWF can develop marketing activity to support the organisation’s activities, including market research, sales collateral and advertising.
- Monitor and measure the effectiveness of all marketing/communications activity.
- Evaluate campaigns and approaches using industry standard tools and create relevant evaluation reports for internal and external use.
- Manage internal communications.
- Manage the communications and marketing budget.
- Enhance the IWF’s social media presence, including interacting with Member Federations, promoting brand-focused interactive and engaging content, and expanding opportunities for wider audiences.
- Maximize engagement across all broadcast media, digital media, and public relations, in line with our strategic objectives.
- Development of campaigns. Creating and promoting copy and content for various channels.
- Partnership management with external stakeholders and media agencies.
- Content management of the IWF website.
- Regular monitoring and evaluation of online activity (website, social media and email marketing), aligned to agreed objectives and key performance indicators.
- Assist in the performance of damage control in cases of bad publicity.
- Onsite event marketing and communications leadership including the management of social media activities and press releases, etc.
- Work to continuously improve the standard of media services at IWF events, develop the IWF Media Guidelines.
- Coordinate media accreditation procedures, manage and oversee onsite event media and photo operations.
- Manage and deliver written or graphic content in the form of e-newsletters, web pages, blogs, or social media messages.
Qualifications & Skills
The profile and experience of the Communications and Marketing Manager shall include but are not limited to the following:
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a similar and/or transferable position in the field of communication, media operations, and/or public relations within the sport industry.
- Proven experience of working with a wide range of media, both proactively and reactively, and of developing and maintaining relationships with journalist and other influential stakeholders;
- Experience in reactive PR issues and crisis communication;
- Experience in the production of print, digital and social media publications.
- Experience in international events management media operations or equivalent.
- Value-driven personality to be an ambassador of the IWF.
- Experience in dealing with high- profile personalities.
- Broad knowledge of the international sport industry, event operations and project management.
- Accuracy and attention to detail while maintaining a long‐term focus.
- Proven track record of providing managerial leadership to a multi-disciplinary team.
- Proven track record in leading complex change management projects; including budget- and risk management.
- A passion for sport and the complete commitment to contribute to the growth of the IWF in world sport.
- Ability to prioritise to efficiently manage projects and deliverables.
- Ability to exert influence and work in a complex environment.
- High ethical standards with the ability to accommodate the requirements of colleagues.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
- College/University degree in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing, business management or sport management.

Location and Working Hours
The role is located in Lausanne and/or remote based however international travel is expected. Due to the nature of the sporting sector, working outside of traditional hours will also be required from time to time.
