The XIXth Commonwealth Games


The Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Commonwealth Games took place on the 3rd of October at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Hosted by New Delhi, India, it is the XIXth Commonwealth Games and the largest multi-sport event ever conducted to date in this city.
Under the motto “Come out and Play”, 71 Commonwealth Teams are participating in 17 disciplines with about 8,000 athletes. Weightlifting competitions started on 4th October, and will last until 11th of October. 36 countries and 204 athletes will compete during the 9 days event. We wish successful competition to all Weightlifters and Teams!

Besides Dr. Tamás Aján, IWF President and IOC Honorary Member; Raja Randhir Singh, IOC Member and Prince Albert of Monaco were present at Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex watching the Women’s 48 kg Weightlifting Final during the first day of Competition at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games on the 4th of October.
