Adidas crown Golden State Warriors NBA champions … but finals series is far from over thanks to Nike rival LeBron James

WITH their 3-1 series lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers ahead of Monday’s fifth game in the finals series, many Golden State fans had already crowned the Warriors back-to-back champions.

Apparently, so did adidas.

The German sportswear giants, which happens to be the official apparel sponsor of the NBA, prematurely rolled out an ad promoting Warriors’ championship gear on their mobile site on Monday morning.

Adidas’ mobile home page featured an image of the Larry O’Brien trophy, along with the text “Golden State Warriors 2016 NBA Champions.”

That was in addition to links to “shop championship tee” and “shop championship hat.”

While no team in NBA Finals history has come back from a 3-1 deficit, anything can happen in the best-of-seven series.

Especially when you throw a highly motivated LeBron James into the mix.

And the adidas gaffe, their second in as many weeks after they misspelled Colombia in a kit campaign for Copa America, might might have given James, Nike’s biggest spokesperson, a little extra motivation.

He scored 41 points to as the Cavaliers won 112-97 to cut the defcit to 3-2.
