Aleksandar Mitrovic hints at Fulham stay after helping Cottagers secure Premier League football


FULHAM look as though they will be able to hang on to Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Newcastle United loanee helped the Cottagers return to the Premier League after a four-year absence.

And now the 23-year-old Serb, who fired 12 goals in 18 starts for the Championship play-off winners, has hinted he’d like to sign on full-time.

Said Mitrovic after Fulham beat Aston Villa 1-0 at Wembley to secure their top flight spot along with Wolves and Cardiff City:

“Of course I am really happy here. I had the best three and a half, four months of my career.

“We will see what happens. I am still a Newcastle United player, I have two years left on my contract, so we will see.

“I want to enjoy now. I have one day to rest and then I have to work hard, and I will focus on that.

“I have people – my agent and people who speak with the clubs – and we will see what happens. I just want to enjoy the moment. I am really happy now.”

With or without him, Mitrovic insists Fulham will make a go of it in the Premier League.

He added: “Of course Fulham will be successful in the Premier League for sure.

“I am delighted with the style we play, the players, with the staff. Every part.

“The fans really help a lot and I think I play some of the best football in my life, the last four months.

“I really enjoyed it.”
