SPAIN took complete control of Group G with a dominant 8-0 win over World Cup qualifying turkeys Liechtenstein.

New Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata scored twice as Julen Lopetegui’s men put in a top-class performance to keep themselves three points clear of Italy.

Former Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu got the final say with a deflected shot in the dying moments.

And Spain now need to win just won of their remaining two games to finish top, with their vastly superior goal difference effectively putting them out of reach of Italy.

But Gian Piero Ventura made sure his side kept up the pressure after losing to Spain during their mid-week clash.

Ciro Immobile scored the only goal of the game as Italy beat Israel 1-0 at home, effectively securing their second-place finish ahead of Albania, who drew with Macedonia 1-1.

Meanwhile, Group I was blown wide open as Iceland beat Ukraine 2-0 and Turkey beat Croatia 1-0.

It means Iceland and Croatia top the group with 16 points each, while Turkey and Ukraine lurk just two points behind with two games remaining.

Finland secured a 1-0 win over Kosovo in the same group, while over in Group D, Georgia and Austria drew 1-1 as Ireland’s 1-0 defeat to Serbia allowed Wales to move into second after they beat Modolva 2-0.
