Anderlecht star Olivier Deschacht faces €100,000 fine after betting on the Belgians to lose.. including a 5-0 Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain
ANDERLECHT star Olivier Deschacht has been fined around £86,000 for football bets – including wagers correctly tipping his side to lose.
Th ex-Belgium left-back was an unused substitute when he bet against Anderlecht for a Champions League match that Paris Saint-Germain won 5-0.
Deschacht, 35, claimed his brother Xavier placed the stakes but the online account was reportedly in the veteran defender’s own name and dates back to 2008.

Belgium’s Betting Commission found both Deschacht brothers guilty of “serious” breaches of betting regulations.
Each was fined 100,000 euros.
Het Nieuwsblad claims Olivier Deschacht’s advisers were outraged by the size of the fine.
The new outlet reported a member of his entourage as saying: “He’d probably accept a less severe penalty because then all the fuss would be over.
“But a fine of €100,000 for bets with a stake of no more than €200 from which he never earned a cent? Come on. Olivier is also not a big earner either.”
La Derniere Heure reported a more cautious response from Deschacht’s lawyer.
Luc Deleu said: “I’m not going to react to the amount.
“But the procedure is clear – we have the possibility of defending ourselves, either in written form or orally.
“If we contest the decision, the commission has two months to put forward another punishment.
“And if we still don’t agree, we have a month to appeal to the courts.”
