Andrew ‘Beef’ Johnston says ‘would you take it if someone said you’ve got f***ed up teeth?’ as he defends ‘d***head’ Twitter spat

ANDREW ‘BEEF’ JOHNSTON defended his “d***head” Twitter spat and said: “Would you take it if someone said you’ve got f***ed up teeth?”

The fan favourite labelled talkSPORT presenter Mike Parry a “d***head” after being compared to a clown in an online poll conducted by show The Two Mikes.

But after a final round one-over 71 left him on the same score for the Open, Beef, whose hair and teeth were also commented on by Parry, said he regretted nothing and would react the same again.

He said: “You’ve got to stand up. Would you take it someone said your beard looks s**t and you’ve got f***ed up teeth? Exactly.

“When he’s taking p*** out of my face, my teeth, and stuff like that, I think it’s bang out of order.”

And Johnston added: “I got in after my round yesterday and then showed a poll saying, am I an inspiration or a clown? And I kind of went off a little bit. It annoyed me.

“I don’t mind being criticised, to take people’s opinions and see what I can do better.

The much loved English golfer replied to The Two Mikes’ original tweet with the message: “If I’m a clown for enjoying my work then so be it. Ur a sad person and couldn’t care less wat u think.”

Former IBF middleweight champ Darren Barker then tweeted Beef saying: “Jealously strikes yet again mate. #inspiration #100%.”

And Johnston replied: “He’s a d***head.”

The golfer then tweeted Parry – whose show alongside Mike Graham has more than a million listeners on a Saturday – directly, with the message: “Never been bout money. @mikeparry8 look at wat I’m doing trying to get into sports ur a d***head.”

Parry – who was urged to RESIGN by Beef – insisted he never meant to offend Johnston but fears he plays to the crowd too much when he should be concentrating on his game.

He said: “No way in the world would I want to upset the Beef – a great British sportsman with great charisma. We need people like this.

“I just feel that he’s not altogether concentrating on his game if he’s trying to project his image as a clownish golfer.

"The poll started off as a discussion and then became a real national debate. When Beef came off the course he jumped in and started throwing a few harsh words towards the Two Mikes."
