Arjen Robben picks his all time greatest XI he has played with… and it would pretty much beat any team


ARJEN ROBBEN has named his dream XI, picking a group of players from who have played for either Chelsea, Real Madrid Bayern Munich or the Dutch national team – and it is some lineup.

The tricky winger, 32, has been at Bayern since 2009, winning a host of silverware – having previously played for Europe’s top clubs, with some pretty impressive colleagues.

In his the defence, three of the stars come from the Allianz Arena – with German number one Manuel Neuer his pick in goal, and the full-backs Philipp Lahm and Austrian captain David Alaba.

At centre-half pairing, Spanish star Sergio Ramos who Robben played with at the Bernabeu was selected alongside Chelsea veteran John Terry.

In his 4-1-4-1 formation, which he told a German publication, he chose a holding midfielder in the form of Dutch hardman Mark van Bommel.

Into attack, Robben included Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer Frank Lampard in his midfield, joined by Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder – who he also played with at Real Madrid.

The two wide roles go to Bayern duo Thomas Muller and Frank Ribery  – and finally, prolific former Manchester United and Holland striker completed the lineup as the lone forward.

Last month, reports in Germany claimed Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski, Robben and Ribery have all agreed to extend their futures at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern have found it hard in recent weeks as pressure growns on boss Carlo Ancelotti in Munich, as they seem unable to knock surprise Bundesliga leaders RB Leipzig off the top of the table.
