Arsenal and Chelsea face competition for Jean Michael Seri from Napoli and Borussia Dortmund

NAPOLI  and Borussia Dortmund will rival Arsenal and Chelsea for Jean Michael Seri.

The Ivory Coast star looked odds-on to leave Nice and move to the Premier League.

Seri,26, has a release clause of £35million, making him one of the most sought after midfielders in Europe.

His preferred destination is England with Arsenal making contact with his representatives as new head coach Unai Emery looks to overhaul the squad left behind by Arsene Wenger.

Chelsea were looking to steal a march on their rivals last month for his signature, but Seri was hanging on to see who would be the manager next season.

That situation looks to be nearing a conclusion with former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri close to taking over from Antonio Conte.

The Blues have made contact again and want him to be part of a new-look midfield next term.

But the Premier League pair could be gazumped with lucrative offers for the star from Serie A and the Bundesliga.

New Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti is looking to beef up his midfield with the imminent departure of Italian international Jorginho to Manchester City.

The Serie A outfit have the lure of Champions League football next term, something the Premier clubs cannot offer.

Dortmund also fancy their chances of bagging Seri, with his former Nice boss Lucien Favre the new head coach at the Westfalenstadion.

The Bundesliga giants will also be taking part in next season’s Champions League, and that is where Seri wants to be next term.

Manchester United who are looking to bolster their midfield options are keeping a close eye on the situation.

But Jose Mourinho has prioritised other targets as they look to replace Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini.
