Arsenal star Olivier Giroud’s ‘scorpion kick’ goal nominated for FIFA Puskas Award along with two other amazing strikes

ARSENAL star Olivier Giroud has seen his ‘scorpion kick’ goal shortlist for the FIFA Puskas Award.

Gunners fans were left open-mouthed when the France international scored the sublime effort against Crystal Palace in January.

And Giroud’s strike now leads a three-goal shortlist ahead of the annual FIFA awards after being up-voted by fans against nine other belters.

It’ll be sweet justice for the striker should he take home the award after being snubbed for Goal of the Month in England.

Andy Carroll’s slicing scissor kick for West Ham beat the scorpion effort to that trophy earlier this year, much to Giroud’s chagrin.

But the Arsenal ace’s sure to be all smiles should the Puskas award head his way instead.

Giroud is up against two other goals, one being a stoppage-time effort hit from the half-way line by Venezuela’s Deyna Tasellanos in the U17 Women’s World Cup.

The other is a last-gasp bicycle kick by the goalkeeper of South African side Baroka, Oscarine Masuluke.

Voting is currently underway and comes to an end on October 23, the same night as the event in London.

Should Giroud win, he will join an illustrious list made up of the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez.
