ARSENAL’S pursuit of defenders shows no signs of slowing down with the Gunners reportedly interested in RB Leipzig star Lukas Klostermann.
The 22-year-old often operates as a right-back, but has proven himself in the Bundesliga with his versatility across the backline.
Klostermann featured 39 times in all appearances under Ralph Hasenhuttl this season, helping the club to a sixth-placed finish.
According to Bild, his performances have caught the eye of Unai Emery, who is looking to lure the 2016 Olympic silver medallist to the Emirates.
It has been reported that the German youth international has been seen as a long-term successor to Per Mertesacker – who retired from playing this summer.
Klostermann has a contract with the Bulls until 2021, and has been with the club since 2014 after arriving from VFL Bochum.
The Gunners are desperate to sure-up their leaky defence, after they conceded a whopping 51 goals in the Premier League – the most of any side in the top seven.
Switzerland captain Stephan Lichtsteiner has already been snapped up on a free transfer from Juventus to add much-needed experience to the dressing room.
