Ashes First Test: Ben Stokes shares awkward message with England team-mates ahead of Gabba crunch

BEN STOKES has gone public with a personal good luck message to Joe Root’s team.

The sin-binned all-rounder posted a video on twitter in which he revealed he will be staying up for much of the night to watch the action on TV.

Ben Stokes shared a message of support with his pals but will be gutted to miss out

Stokes said: “With the Ashes starting very soon I just wanted to get a message out to the boys in Australia wishing them all the best for the first Test match.

“All the coaches and all the backroom staff as well, I know how much preparation has gone into making sure everyone is right and ready to go, and by the looks of it everyone is.

“I just want to wish all the fans who have made the long travel out to Australia all the best as well. I hope we can give you a good result in the first Test match.
“I’ll be sat at home watching and following the lads and hoping they do really well.”

Stokes has posted a couple of other videos in recent days showing him batting and bowling – suggesting he has recovered from his broken hand and would be ready to play if he flew Down Under.

But the chances of Stokes appearing the Ashes series are minimal because he is still under investigation by Avon and Somerset police following the Bristol brawl on September 25.

He must also face an ECB disciplinary probe.
