Mats Hummels could be welcomed back into the Bayern starting line-up after he returned to full training on Monday after picking up a knee injury. Jerome Boateng stepped in and he will be unlucky to lose his place if Hummels recovers in time.

Former Chelsea midfielder Thiago has been struggling with a hamstring and is likely to miss this fixture for his Spanish side.

Kevin Gameiro could have earned himself a start after setting up the winner for Antoine Griezmann as a second-half sub at the weekend.

Arturo Vidal has openly admitted he is out for revenge after last season’s outcome.

The Bayern midfielder said: “"We have to eradicate the pain of that defeat.

Madrid can go into the match boosted by the news star man Antoine Griezmann has vowed not to leave.
