Aussie Rules hard man left with hurt heart after schoolboy ‘blacks up’ in his honour

AN AUSSIE Rules hard man has revealed his broken heart after a schoolboy ‘blacked up’ in a misjudged tribute to him.

Nic Naitanui discovered through social media that a proud mum from Down Under had posted a photo of her boy in full costume to celebrate his school’s book week but responded by saying he did not believe it to be malicious.

The Facebook post from the unfortunate boy’s parent said: “I NEED to share my absolute QUEENING moment.

“My son had book week parade today. He wanted to go as his idol Nic Naitanui from the west coast Eagles.

“I was a little worried about painting him. (So many politically correct extremists these days) he is pastey [sic] white and if I just sent him in a wig and footy gear, no one would tell who he was.

“So I grew a set of balls and painted my boy brown and he looked fanf******tastic.”

“Parenting win! I’m celebrating by having a wine before 12pm…”

The grape-glugging mum soon deleted the post, which copped widespread criticism from around the word, but not before it reached the attention of the dreadlocked star of Fijian parents.

Naitanui said: “The young blood’s innocence merely attempting to emulate his hero hurts my heart. Especially when the hero is me.

“It’s a shame racism co-exists in an environment where our children should be nurtured not tortured because they are unaware of the painful historical significance ‘blackface’ has had previously on the oppressed.

“I don’t believe the mother had any intention to cause harm, just wanted her kid to simply be Nic Nat however may reflect on this and choose an alternate method next time.”

He added: “Honestly I’ve encouraged this mistake in the past but I’m now educated of it’s origins. Let’s grow together.”
