Bad scope means no Curragh outing

US Army Ranger has been ruled out of the Irish Derby after scoping badly

Aidan O’Brien’s colt had been fancied to reverse the form with Epsom winner Harzand, but will now be given time to recover.

Ryan Moore will switch to Derby third Idaho – who has been well supported since the news broke and is now favourite with most bookies.

O’Brien said: “His scope just wasn’t 100 percent clean today. It was a routine scope. Obviously it’s a big pity.

“He’ll have a little rest now and we’ll see where we go from there.”
