Barcelona announces first eSports team and will compete against other European giants in Pro Evolution Soccer 2018


BARCELONA have become pioneers of eSports after becoming the first confirmed side to compete in the Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 League.

Ernesto Valverde‘s men are currently the only side to announce their participation, with a host of European side’s expected to confirm their availability imminently.

The La Liga announced on Twitter that they will feature in several electronic sports projects as part of their new ‘It is not football, it’s LaLiga’ campaign.

Barca revealed on their website that they have reached an agreement with with Konami and eFootball.Pro.

PES is created by Konami, while eFootball.Pro is an eSports company founded by Spanish international Gerard Pique in 2016.

Speaking of the news, the World Cup winner said: “As a player, I’m excited that my club has decided to enter eSports and joins this innovative project that we are preparing together with KONAMI.
