It had been rumoured for some time that this would be the midfield icon’s last season with the Catalans and that he would join a side in the Chinese Super League.

No destination has so far been confirmed — but El Mundo report a mega-money offer is on the table for Iniesta to join Chongqing.

His contract would see him earn over £450,000-a-week over three years, which is more than Cristiano Ronaldo currently pockets at Real Madrid.

On top of his basic salary, the report claims the club will give Iniesta back 50 per cent of his image rights, to buy six million bottles of his wine at a price of £27.3m.
