SAMUEL ETO’O held a four hour-long interview with Lazio over a potential move to the Italian capital, it is being reported.

The former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Chelsea striker, 37, is now a free agent following a four-month spell with Turkish side Konyaspo, where he scored six goals in 12 matches.

Lazio agonisingly missed out on qualification for the Champions League on the final day of the season and are now set to lose many of their best stars this summer.

However, their directors are famed for sealing incredible deals in the transfer market with former Liverpool pair Lucas Leiva and especially Luis Alberto proving sensational purchases this term.

Sergej Milkinovic-Savic is almost certain to leave while Serie A’s leading marksman Ciro Immobile could also depart, with AC Milan keen.

But one player certain to exit is Nani — and various reports suggest Eto’o could come in as his replacement.

Eto’o scored arguably the most famous goal of his career at Lazio’s Olympic Stadium with the opener for Barcelona against Manchester United in the 2009 Champions League final.

Should he sign for the Biancocelesti, it would be his third stint in Serie A, following spells with Inter Milan — where he won the Treble — and later at Sampdoria.

Lazio played some of the most impressive, attacking football in Europe last season and were the leading goal scorers in Italy’s top flight, despite finishing fifth.

They reached the Europa League quarter-finals and Coppa Italia semi-finals in what was a season of near-misses.
