GERMAN coach Daniel Stendel has flown in for talks with Barnsley about becoming their new manager.
Stendel was at Oakwell for a look at the club’s facilities and a final meeting with club officials who have been looking for a boss since Jose Morais was sacked.
The former Hannover chief, 44, has emerged as the first choice after talks with domestic targets like Gareth Ainsworth and Grant McCann.
Barnsley’s foreign owners look set to go abroad again despite major problems with Portuguese coach Morais who puzzled players from the start of his reign.
The Lisborn-born 52-year-old took over from Paul Heckingbottom in February but won just three out of his 15 matches in charge.
They headed into the final day of the Championship hopeful of survival but crumbled to defeat.
