Baseball fans take their dogs to Oakland Athletics game and some pooches try their paws at surfing

BASEBALL fans were invited to bring their dogs to Oakland Athletic’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays – and some pooches even tried out surfing.

Four-legged friends descended on the Coliseum stadium in their droves on Friday night for a Bark at the Park event.

Both supporters and their canines were required to buy tickets with proceeds for the dog-friendly event going to Dogs4Diabetics and the Animal Rescue Foundation.

Fans took the opportunity to dress up their pets in the As' famous green, gold and white attire, including baseball caps complete with frizzy fake hair.

One daring pooch, Ansley, tried his paw at surfing outside the stadium in a wave simulator – and she did a great job remaining on the surf board.

Other pet pooches were dressed head to toe in their favourite Athletics shirts for the night of fun.

The dogs were no doubt in jovial mood as the A's beat the Rays 3-2 in the American League (AL) West fixture thanks to Billy Butler's solo home run.

Bark at the Park events take place at baseball games across America where supporters are encouraged to bring along their furry fans to see the action unfold.

The spectacle tends to involve a Bark at the Park party area, where special pooch-related fun and games take place.

What's more, a post-game walk around the bases is usually on offer.
