A BASEBALL player hit a home run – and shattered his own truck’s windscreen to pieces in the process.
Brandon Thomas was playing for the Gateway Grizzlies when he struck the game-changing ball that somehow landed on top of his motor, which was parked well outside the GCS Ballpark stadium.
The former New York Yankees prospect, 25, found out he had hit his own windscreen during the game against Joliet Slammers, but the star didn’t mind because he was so pleased with the grand slam shot.
He told ESPN: “An inning after it happened a bunch of guys in the dugout were laughing.
“They were like, ‘Your windscreen is completely toast.’ I was still pumped during the game, we were winning, but afterwards it was pretty crazy how bad it was shattered.”
Thomas had purposely parked his car well behind the fence to ensure his motor would be intact after the game in Sauget, Illinois.
Despite inflicting the damage on his vehicle himself, he won’t have to fork out for repair work as a mystery benefactor has offered to pay for the damage after the story went viral.
He added: “I couldn’t believe it. I knew where I’d parked but I didn’t think anyone was going to hit it out there, let alone myself. So it’s pretty crazy.
“If I could do it again then I definitely would.
“We were down 3-0, a grand slam to take the lead, we were in a play-off race with a team that was in front of it so it was a pretty cool moment.
“From this going viral someone has volunteered to take care of it for me so I was really thankful for that.”
Incredibly, the star still managed to drive his truck back home – but he had to hang out of the window Ace Ventura-style.
He told Dispatch: “I had to drive home with my head hanging out the window, because it’s smack dab right where I look out.
“All I was worried about after the game was how I was going to pay for it.”
