Bastian Schweinsteiger: Manchester United will be my last club in Europe – German star hints at move to MLS or China

BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER has told Manchester United fans he will not play for any other club in Europe – hinting he could move to the MLS or China.

The defiant German issued a heartfelt statement on Twitter after being frozen out at Old Trafford by new boss Jose Mourinho.

The World Cup-winning German has been seen in the stands at games in recent weeks, including the first home Premier League win of the season against Southampton.

Schweinsteiger, 32, has been forced to train with the reserves though, as Mourinho continues to re-shape the Red Devils squad and take a hands-on approach to training.

The £109million arrival of Paul Pogba has addressed United’s need for a box-to-box midfielder.

But as SunSport reported two days ago, Schweinsteiger is determined to stay at Carrington and fight for his place, believing he can thrust himself back into the United first-team picture.

His statement posted on Twitter and Instagram read: “MUFC will be my last club in Europe.

“I respect other clubs, but Manchester United was the only one which could make me leave Bayern Munich.

“I will be ready if the team needs me. This is all I can say about the current situation.

"I want to thank the fans for the amazing support over the recent weeks."

Schweinsteiger was only drafted in last summer by former United boss Louis van Gaal - but has failed to set the world alight at United.

Mourinho is known for his love of athletic, mobile midfielders like Pogba or his former Chelsea players Willian or Ramires - but for some the German's legs are not what they were.

Schweinsteiger married long-term girlfriend and tennis star Ana Ivanovic in Venice last month - and could move to a warmer with Ivanovic still a pro athlete herself.
