JOSE MOURINHO has all but sealed Bastian Schweinsteiger‘s Manchester United exit by omitting the Germany star from a 25-man squad to face Leicester in Sunday’ Community Shield.
Former Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 34, seems sure to make his big-time debut in English football during the season curtain-raiser at Wembley.
But injury-hit midfielder Schweinsteiger, 32, is the star casualty – even though boss Mourinho named seven players than the 18 men needed for his squad.
The Portuguese, taking charge of his second Premier League club following his exit from Chelsea last term, dumped Schweinsteiger out of the first-team dressing room last week.
And, apart from making the World Cup winner train with United’s Under-21s, Mourinho told him to find a new club.
Schweinsteiger made 18 largely disappointing performances in his debut season under Louis van Gaal after a £14million switch from Bayern Munich.
And his departure seemed almost as inevitable as that of now-sacked LVG.
