THIAGO ALCANTARA has left the door open for a sensational return to Barcelona, but has insisted he is happy at Bayern Munich.
The 26-year-old swapped La Liga for the Bundesliga back in 2013, when he linked up with Pep Guardiola at the Allianz Arena.
Despite amassing over 100 appearances for the Catalan club – winning four La Liga titles and one Champions League – he was allowed to leave for meagre £17million.
And despite being a peripheral figure in his first two seasons in Germany, he has since become an integral part of the side in Bavaria.
Speaking to Catalunya Radio, the midfielder said: “Barcelona will always be my home, not just because I love the club, but also the city.
“I will always look at it with affection. You never know if I will return because I am really happy at Bayern, but football changes a lot. Anything can happen.”
Such has been his fine form, Bayern have been quick to tie him down to a contract until 2021.
SunSport revealed back in October that Barca were lining up a potential deal to bring Thiago back should they fail in their pursuit to lure away Liverpool ace Philippe Coutinho.

And the Spanish international admitted that his path may lead him back to the Nou Camp, he added: “I renewed (my deal) last year with the intention of staying for more years.
“But as the seasons pass, you can become more or less comfortable. The club could be going one way, my ideas could be (taking me) in another direction.

“Whether you’re playing or not can change your ideas. I’m very happy here now, thinking about the season ahead.
“The season’s so long, you can only think about [the current season]. After is when you say: ‘Was this season was good or not? How was it?’ But right now I am happy here.”
Thiago, whose brother Rafinha is currently plying his trade in Barca, has failed to feature since April as a knee injury has kept him on the sidelines.
But the midfield maestro has backed the Brazilian international to win his place back in the side under Ernesto Valverde.
He said: “Rafa’s matured a lot since he got injured. He’s learned how to take care of himself better and he will win a place in the Barca team (when he’s fit).”
