The Surrey left-arm seamer, 19, will arrive in Leeds tonight and train at Emerald Headingley tomorrow.

Stokes, 26, is suffering with a tight left hamstring.

It is believed he has not yet undergone a scan on the injury, which will be assessed on Thursday.

Curran is yet to make his international debut in any format.

His brother Tom played two Test matches for England during the disastrous winter’s Ashes series.

Curran has been in fine form for Surrey and took ten wickets in a match for the first time for Surrey in this month’s win over Yorkshire.
