EX-PORTO star Benni McCarthy has thrown his hat in the ring for the St Mirren job, according to reports.

The Daily Mail says the South African legend – a Champions League winner with Jose Mourinho’s legendary 2004 side – is interested in holding talks with Buddies chiefs.

Meanwhile, it’s also claimed Real Madrid icon Guti, a shock name that emerged last week, is poised for discussions over the role.
