Andre Schurrle, Mario Gotze and Christian Pulisic have been getting over their disappointment at missing out on the World Cup since arriving at the UCLA campus for the post-season training camp.

Rather than showcasing their talents on the football pitch, the trip is more about promoting the club to a US audience.

And that has allowed the players to get a taste of other sports while Stateside.

Stars and Stripes international Pulisic managed to get some one-on-one coaching from Nash, who retired from the NBA in 2014, on the court before returning the favour on the footy field.

Elsewhere, Jeremy Toljan and Maximilian Philipp were spotted surfing on the world-renowned beach.

Although the tourists did get down to serious business with a light training in front of supporters before the onlookers got the chance to grab autographs and selfies with their favourites.

Dortmund are in action tonight when they tackle new MLS side Los Angeles FC at the Banc of California Stadium.

And although the clash is only a friendly, those players know it will provide an early chance to impress new boss Lucien Favre – although the Swiss coach is not in America with them.

Favre said at his unveiling yesterday: “Coaching Borussia Dortmund is a very attractive job, which I like to take on.

“I would like to thank the person responsible for the trust in me. Now we will work together on the new team.

“BVB is one of the most interesting clubs in Europe, and I am looking forward to returning to the Bundesliga, which I know very well and have always kept in mind in the two years in Nice.”
