Boxing legend Carl Froch describes Haka as the ‘rugby dance’… and social media is shocked

CARL FROCH has been slammed on social media for referring to the traditional Kiwi war cry, the haka, as “that rugby dance.”

The former super-middleweight champion was speaking ahead of Anthony Joshua heavyweight unification fight with Joseph Parker.

Froch was caught out while speaking to Sky Sports reporter Fraser Dainton, and asked: “You know the rugby dance they do?”

Dainton replied: “The haka?” which prompted Froch to clarify: “Yeah, that’s the one.”

And Twitter users have since flooded the website with hilarious memes and unimpressed tweets, poking fun at the 40-year-old’s ignorance.

On user wrote: “Carl Froch has just described the ‘haka’ as a ‘rugby dance’. A little bit of me has just died.”

While another tweeted: “Has Carl Froch really just referred to the world famous as the rugby dance??[sic]”

It has not been the best of days for the Nottingham-born fighter who was also booed by the crowd at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.

The sign of disapproval was a sign of support for Welsh boxing legend Joe Calzaghe, who has been involved in spats with Froch over the years.
