Brad Pickett’s fight camp blog: One week to go!

IT’S great to be home! My weekend was filled with friends and family as we celebrated Buddy’s christening and birthday on Sunday! I had a tiny bit of cake – but no seconds. The freezer is jammed full of cake for after my fight, when I will be well and truly tucking in!

I’ve been training twice a day, doing a lot of cardio and bringing my weight down gradually. I had my last sparring session on Tuesday and I’m feeling good.

In between all the training, I’ve been doing a lot of media work. I’ve been in this game a long time now and I’m pretty sure that I’ve been asked every question there is to ask! So, I work hard to make sure the answers I give are still interesting!

If you think you have a question for me that I’ve not been asked before – tweet me and I’ll answer in my blog next week. Keep it clean!

This weekend I’ll be watching a lot of fighting! I’m looking forward to the Portland card – the headline fight is going to be a good one, it’s interesting to see two former 125-ers moving up and doing well. Whoever takes this one must surely be in line for a title shot sooner rather than later.

Keep an eye out for Will Brooks too! I’ve been training with him out at ATT, and unfortunately for him, he lost a bet to me so has been delivering push ups on demand for me ever since. When he wins, watch out for him doing ten push ups in the Octagon!

Elsewhere, I’ll also be watching some friends fighting on ACB in Glasgow. Robert Whiteford is the headliner there, and I’m confident he’ll take home a win. He deserves to be back in the UFC so hopefully getting a win or two under his belt will have him back where he belongs.

Jake Bostwick is also on the card, he’ll be fighting ex-UFC vet Danny Mitchell who is a tough opponent. But Jake is on a huge winning streak at the moment so another W could see him heading for big things. I’ve with both guys for the last couple of months, and I’m pumped to see them go at it at the weekend!

Next week is going to be a busy one! I travel up on Tuesday and will find out my schedule when I check in with the UFC. I’m looking forward to the event so much now!

I’m trying not to give too much thought to the unusual fighting time and so on. It’s not like I’ll be needing a nap in between rounds, so I’m just going to face it head on. Adrenaline will help get me through.

The worst part really is just that the day will drag on for longer beforehand. Either way, I’m ready to get up to Manchester and get going with this. I’ll check in with you next week from the North!
