Breeze has Bunbury target

THE Bunbury Cup could be Librisa Breeze’s next target revealed trainer Dean Ivory.

The four-year-old was the subject of a gamble at Ascot in the Royal Hunt Cup, having opened up at 25-1 the night before he went off at 8-1.

And he very nearly pulled the gamble off as he found only Portage too good for him in a thrilling race.

Ivory said: “The Bunbury Cup is the obvious option, but no decision has been made as yet.

“I wouldn’t worry about bringing him back in trip.

“He’s gone up to 100 now (from 97) so he’ll have plenty of options.

“There’s an obvious race back at Ascot (Challenge Cup) for him and towards the end of the year he’ll have loads of options.

“He was beaten by the draw. He had to make up a lot of ground and then drifted over to the far side and still nearly won. Robert (Winston) is convinced he’d have won if he was on the far side.”

Librisa Breeze is currently the 8-1 ante-post favourite for the Bunbury Cup with most bookmakers.

Ivory had another fancied contender in the Britannia in the shape of Fighting Temeraire but he only managed to beat one rival.

“Fighting Temeraire scoped badly, so at least we know why he ran so poorly,” said Ivory.

“I’ve taken him out of the Bunbury Cup and he’ll have an easy spell.”
