DILLIAN WHYTE is set to face knockout specialist Luis Ortiz in a WBC title eliminator, according to reports.
The 30-year-old had been in talks to fight Kubrat Pulev in an IBF heavyweight title eliminator, but could now face the Cuban southpaw on July 28.
According to ESPN, the bout will take place at the O2 Arena, and could be announced tomorrow.
They claim a press conference has been called in London where it Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn will announce the bout.
Whyte is the current WBC Silver title holder, and successfully defended his belt against Lucas Browne in March with a devastating sixth round knockout.
While Ortiz failed in his quest to become a world champion in his last outing, after he was stopped against WBC champ Deontay Wilder in the tenth round.
The 39-year-old rocked the 2008 Olympic bronze medallist during the bout, and appeared to be in control of the fight before being knocked out.
While potential opponent Whyte as asserted himself as arguable the best heavyweight outside of the current world champions – as he continues to fight the best possible opponents.
