Confusion as Wladimir Klitschko is listed as from Kazakhstan and not Ukraine in official programme for Anthony Joshua fight
WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO has been labelled as a KAZAKHSTANI national ahead of his Wembley showdown with Anthony Joshua.
The former unified world champion hails from Ukraine, and even won the gold medal in the super heavyweight category in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
In the official Wembley programme, the 41-year-old has had his nationality stated as from Kazakhstan.
A Matchroom spokesman told The Sun that the details in the programme came from Klitschko’s promotion team.
Klitschko was born in Kazakhstan in 1976 to Ukrainian parents, as his father was constantly moving due to his involvement in the Soviet Air Force.
His older brother – Vitali Klitschko, is even the current Mayor of Kiev after he swapped the ring for politics.
Still, there was some confusion when the Ukrainian national anthem played as he entered the ring.

Wladimir Klitschko – nicknamed ‘Dr. Steelhammer,’ has been unusually outspoken in the build up to the fight, as he looks to recapture his WBA, IBF and IBO belts.
He has even recently revealed he has a recorded a prediction of the fight with Joshua on a USB stick, which he will auction after the fight… presumably if his hand is raised as the new champion.
Klitschko will be entering the ring for the first time since he suffered a unanimous decision to Tyson Fury back in November 2015.
