Burnley striker Andre Gray accuses his own fans of racism towards an opposition player

BURNLEY’S record signing Andre Gray has tweeted his disgust at two of his OWN fans after they allegedly made racist comments towards at Bradford City player during a friendly.

In a comfortable 4-1 win where he scored twice, he would normally have posted a message of thanks to the travelling fans – but instead he slammed two who made the unsavoury comments.

He wrote: “Well done to the two racist Burnley fans. Still live in the stone ages I see! Ignorant prats,” with a sarcastic thumbs up emoji.

Gray then followed that up with another tweet saying: “Its alright you’ve only got black players playing for you anyway” – alluding to Gray and right-back Tendayi Darikwa.

Stewards asked a Burnley fan to leave Valley Parade after repeated comments directed at the unidentified home player.

Another supporter left voluntarily, and while no arrests were made, Burnley have apologised to the Bantams player and pledged to investigate.

A club  statement said: “Burnley Football Club would like to make it clear that we have a zero tolerance approach to any such behaviour and strongly condemn discrimination of any type.”

Bradford said in their statement: “The spectator made a further comment and at this point the player reported the abuse to the assistant referee.

“Additional staff were deployed to the area in which Burnley supporters were seated and following continued abuse he was ejected.
