Burnley striker Andre Gray still has sexist rants on Twitter feed days after deleting vile messages calling for gays to ‘burn and die’

HOMOPHOBIC and sexist rants from gay row footballer Andre Gray are still on his Twitter feed.

The £9million Burnley striker, 25, has deleted vile messages from 2012 calling for gays to “burn and die”.

However other offensive posts remain, including one from 2013 which declared: “Would love to see women do pre season yano see if they moan about there period then.”

Others from 2014 include: “Lesson learnt today is….. Dont do a womens job washing machine done F’d up my s***”, and: “Why are women so bitchy? #JelousyFemalesTrait.”

In August that year he also sneered: “Lighties are puffs #MixedRace.”

Gray scored his first top-flight goal against Liverpool on Saturday in a 2-0 win. But he was later forced to issue a “sincere and unreserved apology” after anti-gay posts emerged.

One asked: “Is it me or are there gays everywhere? #Burn #Die #Makesmesick.”

Another ranted: “Ladies stop dressin ur sons as women in heels and make up. Do you want him to end up like #PeteBurns #f*****.”

The FA is investigating the comments, made when Gray was playing for Leicestershire non-league side Hinckley United.

The footballer has denied he is homophobic and begged for forgiveness, claiming: "Firstly, I want to offer a sincere and unreserved apology to anybody I may have offended in relation to these tweets.

“The tweets were posted four years ago when I was a completely different person to the man I am now.

“I was at a very different point in my life since then. I have experienced a lot over the past four years and have to take responisbilty for a number of things in my life which has enabled me to mature and grow as a person since that time.

“I can assure everyone that I am absolutely not homophobic and as said previously I can only apologise and ask for forgiveness to anyone I offended.

"Thankfully I am not the guy I was back then and will continue to work hard both on and off the pitch to become a better person."

But a spokesman for anti-discrimination campaign group Kick It Out said yesterday: “Prejudice such as this has no place in football.

"This incident should act as a reminder to all players of their conduct on social media.”
